SErVICE PROjECTS
Juniors participate in service activities intended to improve the quality of life in Glen Ellyn and our surrounding communities.
The service projects we take part in are done in the spirit of giving back to our community and dedication to those less fortunate. Ongoing projects include, but are not limited to...
Project Linus
Each year, GEJWC members prepare (and deliver) a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner, with all the trimmings, to the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Firefighters.
Glen Ellyn Juniors assemble fleece blankets for Central DuPage Hospital (within the Chicagoland chapter of Project Linus).
The Project Linus mission is simple: to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized or otherwise in need. Project Linus does this through the gift of new, handmade blankets and afghans lovingly created by volunteer "blanketeers".
Please join us as we take part in this time-honored tradition.
Volunteer Firefighter Thanksgiving Dinner
Each year, GEJWC members prepare (and deliver) a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner, with all the trimmings, to the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Firefighters.
It's a time-honored tradition most members enjoy taking part in. The annual event was established to serve as a "pre-thank you" to the volunteer firefighters who help us deliver 'Christmas Baskets' during our Christmas Family Adoption program.
Christmas Baskets Sponsor a Family Program
Glen Ellyn Junior Woman's Club will once again distribute Christmas Baskets full of gifts and food to local families in need through our Christmas Baskets Sponsor a Family Program.
Last year, the Family Christmas Baskets Program provided food, clothing, toiletries, and gifts to 148 needy families and seniors – 602 people Total - within the Glen Ellyn community (D89 and D41 combined).
Our largest service program began in 1949, by providing food baskets to needy families during the holidays. Over the years, the program has evolved into a community-wide project with over130 families and seniors sponsored.
